Pink Christmas
Winter Wonderland Hop - Week 3
Good day, fellow crafters. Welcome to our Winter Wonderland Cardmaking Hop Week 3 hosted by @kellysantidesigns ❄️ Each Wednesday in November, we are creating cards with a winter theme. We’re happy to share this week’s theme ~ Pink Christmas! If this theme inspires your creativity, please use #winterwonderlandcardhop2023
In the realm of holiday traditions, the color palette associated with Christmas typically revolves around the timeless duo of red and green. However, in recent years, a delightful and unexpected contender has emerged to add a vibrant twist to the festive season—pink. While not a conventional hue for Christmas, pink injects a sense of modern whimsy and joy into the celebration. This unconventional choice has gained popularity for its ability to evoke a sense of warmth and playfulness, offering a departure from the traditional while still capturing the essence of the holiday spirit. I hope you enjoy my submission to this challenge.
To create this card I first began by selecting the following supplies, white hammermill cardstock, silver metallic cardstock, pink cardstock, the Gina K Shimmering Seasons stamp and die set featured left, clear embossing ink, Wendy Vechcci embossing powder in Pink Peony and Silver, and Distress Oxide ink in Victorian Velvet.
To start creating I secured the cardstock in my Misti stamping tool and aligned the wreath stamp to the location I wanted. Next, the clear embossing ink was applied evenly across the stamp face and with even pressure stamped onto the cardstock. I typically repeat this procedure twice to ensure I have a clean transfer. I then applied the Pink Peony embossing powder and heat set it with my heat tool. After that had cooled I repeated the same steps but with the silver embossing powder for the sentiment, also from the same stamp set, as well as the decorative chain from which the wreath appears to hang. To complete the background panel I next ink-blended the background with the Victorian Velvet. Once I had the hue I wanted, I used a microfiber towel to clean off the excess ink on top of the embossing.
The last stage for this card was to use my Hero Arts nested rectangular dies to trim the background panel to its final dimensions as well as the silver mat. These were then adhered together with some double-sided tape and then the composite was adhered to a pink card base the same way. With that, I called this card complete.
