Get Creative Challenges Blog Inspirational Post
Inspirational Post # 135
Good day, fellow crafters. Today's submission is my August Inspirational post for the Get Creative Challenge Blog DT. Our challenge, # 135, is to create a card based on a movie or a book. I chose to go with Aladdin, I just love this cute genie stamp and needed a chance to use it.
For every challenge we, as the design team, attempt to bring you themes and ideas that will test your abilities and, ideally, ignite your enthusiasm to explore fresh ways of thinking. However, what I like most about being part of the team is seeing how we each showcase our take on the theme and sometimes just what the card means to the creator.
I hope you are inspired to enter this challenge and I can’t wait to see your creative take on this week’s theme. Be sure to tag me on your entry and/or comment below so I know to watch out for you. Remember Crafting is Happiness!
To create this card I began with creating a lamp fit for my genie. Using a double sided adhesive sheet and gold gilding flakes, I covered and then burnished the flakes until smooth and completely covered. I next used a die from Stamp Anniething called, Genie Lamp Builder, to cut out the main body of the lamp. I then used the rest of the die pieces and a sheet of metallic cardstock for the rest of the lamp body. These were then adhered together and set aside.
The genie was created using the Stamp Anniething Genie stamp set. I stamped in onto white cardstock and then colored it in with colored pencils. I next fussy cut out the image and set it aside.
The background panel was created using the Moroccan Nights background stamp from Paper discovery. I used an ink color from Lawn Fawn called Hippo. This color is a light gray and doesn’t take away from the scene.
The last piece to create was the sentiment. This was from the same stamp set as the genie and was done is white
embossing powder and heat set onto red cardstock. I then used a label die from my collection to cut it out.
The last step was to trim everything to size and adhere it to a red mat, which is a 4.25 x 5.5 A2 size. This was then mounted to a white A2 card base. With that, I called the card complete.
Inspirational Post # 134
Good day, fellow crafters. Today's submission is my August Inspirational post for the Get Creative Challenge Blog DT. Our challenge, # 134, is to create a shape card. While the idea of creating shape cards can be a bit daunting, it doesn't have to be. I had a lot of fun creating this cute little guy and it could not have been easier. I encourage you to head over to our blog and see what our talented contributors have come up with, and you may just draw some inspiration to enter as well.

To create this cute little duckie card I turned to the Rubber Duckie A2 Shaped Card Fold-it Die Set from a company called The Stamps of Life. They have quite a few to select from so be sure to check them out.
The die that are provided with this set are really good quality and made cutting the pieces out and aligning them a cinch. I used a combination of plain cardstock colors for the body, bill, bow tie and cardbase. To give it a little more interest I choose to use a patterned paper from my collection.
The only thing the die set did not account for was the eye. It does come with a cut out so that you can make an eye for the duck but to get it to look a cuter I used white cardstock and a black pen to get the look I was after.
Everything was adhered together with a liquid glue, and then adhered to the cardbase which is also very easy to cut out. If you have any questions there is a video on how to use the product on the link provided above.

To create these card I first began with some white cardstock and some blue cardstock. To which I secured, in turn, one of the two layers of the Layered Star Stencil set from Pretty Pink Posh. I then used Gina K’s Glitter Glitz in either Red Velvet, .Brilliant Blue, or White and a foam pad to apply the paste over the stencils. These were allowed to dry for a few seconds and then the stencils were removed and cleaned. Once the Glitter Glitz had dried completely, the stencils were swapped between cards and the process repeated in a different color.
When all the colors were finally dry, the background panels were cut to their final dimensions along with a red mat. These were then adhered together with Bearly Arts liquid glue and then the composite was adhered to a white card base with more liquid glue.
The last step was to create the sentiment. I chose to use a black cardstock, white heat embossing powder, and a sentiment from the Mini Strips - Patriotic stamp set by Taylored Expressions. I stamped each of the sentiments with VersaMark watermark ink, applied and then heat set the embossing powder on the black cardstock. I then used a thin pennant ribbon label die to cut them out. These were then adhered into place in the center of the panel. With that, I called the card complete

To create these card I first began with some white cardstock, a black ink, masking and the Sassy Toys stamp set from The Sassy Club. I stamped each of the characters, colored them with alcohol markers, allowed to dry and then fussy cut them each out, setting each aside.
The next step was to use a light blue dyed piece of water color paper that I created with a Kool-Aid soak a while back for the background panel. I then used the my Favorite Things On Solid Ground stamp set to stamp out the wood floor. I then colored it in with alcohol markers and allowed to dry.
Next, I adhered all of my characters into place with Bearly Arts liquid glue, trimmed the background panel and a black mat to their final dimensions. I then adhered them together with more liquid glue and the composite to a white card base. Lastly, with a sentiment stamp from the Sassy Toys set, I stamped the sentiment with black ink. With that, I called the card complete.

To create these card I first began with choosing the perfect background paper for my design. In this case I settled on this gorgeous shade of pink, which you may say to yoursel “Why? It’s is just, well pink”. The answer however is the interesting thing. This paper is watercolor paper and the color is a result of being soaked in black cherry sugar free Cool-Aid for 24 hours and then allowed to dry. This particular piece was either in the middle of top of the stack I put in as it is a lighter shade of the pink that results from this method, which to be honest was a lot of fun.
Once the paper was completely dry I then used the Picket Fence Studios BFF Girls Night Out stamp set and black ink to stamp my image and sentiment.
The color was then added and the panel and mat were trimmed to final dimensions. I adhered them together with Bearly Arts liquid glue and then adhered the composite to a nice bright pink card base. With that, I called the card complete.
