Thanks for Challenges
Good day, fellow crafters. I am so very very excited to show you this card and it just so happens to fall into the theme of three of my favorite challenges so winner-winner chicken dinner. If you have never participated in any of these challenges I would recommend giving them a try, at the very least go to their site and check out all of the cards presented by the people who are submitting. Loads of great ideas for your next project can be found without having to search very hard at all. I hope you enjoy.
To craft this card, I started by assembling the necessary materials, which included white cardstock, clear embossing ink, Nuvo classic silver embossing powder, Gina K’s Champagne embossing powder (spiced marmalade card only), and Altenew's Giant Bell Flower from the Build-A-Flower set (shown on the left). Additionally, I utilized Distress Oxide inks in Prize Ribbon, Fired Brick, and Spiced Marmalade. My creative vision for this project involved shaping the card, so I employed a Craft Stash nested octagon die called Torn Paper. To add a thoughtful touch, I integrated the Thanks sentiment using the Altenew Thank You Builder stamp set (featured below right).
During the crafting phase, a process repeated for all cards in this set, I proceeded to ink-blend the backgrounds with the chosen color for each card, employing an ink-blending brush. I then placed my cardstock into the Misti stamping tool, carefully aligning the stamp, and then applying VersaMark clear embossing ink before stamping the image. It's my usual practice to stamp the image multiple times to ensure a clean transfer. I then applied the embossing powder and utilized my heat tool for the heat-setting process. After allowing it to cool, I next used a technique called faux bleaching, which is where when water is applied to Distress Oxide inks they are able to be removed. To do this I used a bit of water and a brush to remove some of the color from within the flowers, and then blotted with a paper towel. I completed all of the steps and allowed the background panels to dry.
The next step was to place each of the background panels back into my Misti stamping tool and to align the chosen Thank You sentiment. Once that was ready, I inked the stamp up in black ink and stamped the background panel. As with the embossing ink, I stamp the image a couple of times to ensure coverage. I then allowed the ink to dry.
The last stage was assembly. Utilizing my nested hexagon dies, I trimmed down the background panel, a black mat, and a white card base to their appropriate dimensions. Remember that when cutting the card base you want the card’s crease to be just inside the area you are cutting or you will cut the crease off and no longer have a folded card. Lastly, I used double-sided adhesive to adhere all of the pieces together. With that, I called the card complete.
