Golden Retriever Appreciation Day

Whacky Holiday IG Hop - February 2024

Good day, fellow crafters. Golden Retriever Day is typically celebrated on February 3rd each year. This chosen date offers enthusiasts and dog lovers a specific day to commemorate and appreciate the unique qualities of Golden Retrievers. The occasion is marked by various activities, social media campaigns, and events that bring together individuals who share a deep affection for these friendly and loyal companions. I hope you enjoy my submission.

To create this card I first began with the background panel. On white cardstock, I used the leftover inks from other projects that were still on my blue and purple ink-blending brushes to create a night sky. I then gave it a bit of a wet spritz to create the illusion of starts which made the perfect backdrop for my focal image. For that, I chose the Oodles and Retriever silhouette from Unity Stamps and some black ink and stamped directly onto the background panel.

The next step was to use a Hero Arts rectangular nesting die set to cut the background panel down to its final dimensions and then repeat the process with increasingly larger dies with purple and black cardstock to create the window frame and mat. I then used Bearly Art liquid glue to adhere the window frame to the background panel. Then double-sided tape was used to adhere the background panel to the mat and then again to adhere the composite to a purple card base.

The last step was to use the My Favorite Things Pawsitive Vibes stamp set and black ink to stamp the sentiment. Once I had that completed I used a sentiment label die from my collection and my Gemini to cut it out. To give it a little more visual appeal I edged around all the sentiment label with black ink. It was then adhered to the background panel. With that, I called the card complete.
