Gods and Goddesses

Fantasy Inspired Instagram Hop - February 2024

Good day, fellow crafters. Today I present to you my submission in the Fantasy-Inspired Instagram Hop! Here you will find cards inspired by various fantasy-based themes! This is a monthly hop on the 1st Saturday at 10 AM CT/11 EST. If you are inspired and want to hop along with us please message @bkeeleycrafts on IG for more info.

This month's theme is Gods and/or Goddesses from fantasy or history. If you want to see the list of other participants and their work, head over to IG, and find this card on my page @forgetmenotcardco. I hope you enjoy.

To create this card I first had to decide on a god or goddess that I wanted to use. I searched through references within Greek and Roman mythology until I decided on Dionsys, who in Greek mythology, is the god of wine, fertility, and revelry. The mythology surrounding Dionysus reflects themes of transformation, renewal, and the cyclical nature of life. Truly he should be the patron god (notice I do use the little “G”) of crafters!

Once I had selected my god, I used Google Images for my focal image and printed it out on white cardstock. I next used my Copic markers to color and shade the image and when completed I fussy cut the image out. I then set it aside.

For the background panel, I chose a light and airy blue cardstock and the Park Lane embossing folder called Swirl from my stash. I misted the back of the cardstock with water to soften the fibers and then ran the folder through my Gemini die-cutting machine. I ran it through twice to ensure a good image transfer. To complete the background panel I trimmed it to its final dimension and then adhered it to a gray card base with Bearly Art liquid glue.

I then used several colors of green cardstock from my scrap pile and the My Favorite Things Fab Foliage die set (MFT-1165) to cut out the embellishment for behind my focal image. I adhered all of them in a wreath-style arrangement with more liquid glue and then over top of that I adhered my focal image using pop dots to give it some dimension.

The final step was to create the sentiment. I first went online to find an appropriate font which I downloaded and installed. I next typed out and then printed the sentiment on cardstock matching the background panel. Using a label die from my collection I cut out the sentiment on my Gemini and adhered it to the card base. With that, I called the card complete.
