Here's to a future brimming with love, laughter, and an endless supply of sunshine. May your days be blessed, and your heart forever embraced by the warmth of joy. I hope you enjoy.
To create this card I begin with some premium watercolor paper, the Wishing You Sunshine & Happiness background stamp from Unity Stamps, and Tonic Studios’ Nuvo Watercolor pencils. I first decided where I wanted my horizon line to be located on the watercolor paper and masked it with some mint tape. Then utilizing Gina K’s Amalgam ink I stamped the image directly onto the watercolor paper making sure to align the stamp’s horizon line just below that of the one I created with the mint tape.
The next step was to add the color. I have been told, repeatedly now, that this card appears to have been colored with colored pencils. That is of course only partially true, where are you to fact check Snopes? Anyway, the technique I used for this card was to take the color of watercolor pencil I wanted to use and with a wet water brush pen, pick up the pigment from the watercolor pencil and applying it to paper. This technique allows for much greater control of where and how your pigment goes when placed. This was new to me as I had previously thought that you colored your image with them the same as you would do regular colored pencils but then add water to the color. That way of doing it left lots of streaking, but this method leave a very clean image and allows for lot of fine detail work. Once every thing was dry I did go back and add some darker blue highlights in the water by utilizing some Distress Oxide in the color Tumbled Glass. The idea was that this made it look more like rolling waves.
To finish off the card, I removed the mint tape, trimmed the background panel and black mat down to its final dimensions and adhered them both to a pre-cut A2 white card base. I next used the Amalgam ink once again and stamped the sentiment.
