Layered Cards Using Hard to Use Paper Pads

Stash Busters 2024 - A Bi-weekly Instagram Hop

Good day, fellow crafters. This is my first post for a new bi-weekly Instagram hop that will run throughout 2024. The Stashbusters 2024 Hop is hosted by Armen @armenscraftroom, Ave @avedamontedesigns, Barbara @bkeeleycrafts, Hilary @hilarygreek, Kelly @kellysantidesigns, and Kim @touchofmagik. For this hop participants will be posting 3-6 creative, paper-based projects to share. The goal of the hop is for each participant to use the items and supplies already owned to create between 81 and 162 projects in total throughout 2024.

The design theme challenge for today invites you to craft layered cards using paper from less commonly utilized paper pads. While the perception of these papers may vary among individuals, I find it to be an interesting and distinctive approach. In selecting papers for my cards, I delved into my collection, opting for those sheets that initially posed a challenge in finding a fitting purpose for my upcoming projects. This doesn't imply a lack of creativity; rather, it highlights the joy of crafting, where I am confident that creativity will prevail, turning these seemingly challenging papers into sources of crafting happiness.

If you are inspired to participate please use #stashbusters2024 on your posts so that we can see them too! I hope you enjoy my submission to these challenges.

In the spirit of this hop and in continuing my pursuit of as close to zero waste as possible, each of these cards was put together creatively with leftovers from various 2023 projects. The background panels got a makeover using prints from my stash of patterned paper books, and the banding plus sentiment labels? Yep, you guessed it – those are from leftover cut-offs as well.

The stamped sentiments were done in black ink and derived from a set of stamps from Crafter’s Square. The finishing touches were the flat-backed pearls from Kat Scrappiness and Pink Fresh Studio as well as some 3D embellishments from my collection.
