Miss You
Good day, fellow crafters. Today I am presenting to you a “Miss You” card created with a special focus on an incredible product from Altenew. As an educator, my passion lies in exploring and showcasing the endless possibilities that are available in the art of card making as well as what products from Altenew bring to our handmade greeting cards. From intricate floral stamps to versatile dies, Altenew's collection is a treasure trove for every avid cardmaker. I hope you enjoy.
I began this card by starting with the focal point, the Altenew Dearest Friend stamp and die set, featured left. Using some white cardstock and my Misti stamping tool I aligned the larger of the floral stamps into position and then inked and stamped the image in Altenew Crisp black ink being sure to use even pressure. I usually repeat this step a couple of times to ensure I get a nice even image transfer.
The next step was to use the corresponding die and my Gemini die-cutting machine to cut the image out. Once that was completed I used my Copic marker set to color, shade, and highlight the image. After that was completed, and because I am not a fan of the white left-around images when they are die-cut, I used a black Copic to fill in the image and then around the perimeter and the edge. This helps the viewer to be able to focus on the image and not how it is connected to the card. I then set it aside to allow the markers to dry.
I next created the background panel using the Spellbinders Party Dots embossing folder, featured right, and black cardstock that I ran through my Gemini after misting the back with water to soften the paper fibers. I then cut the background panel down to its final dimensions and adhered it to a white card base using double-sided tape.
The next step was to adhere the focal image to the card background panel surface with some Bearly Arts liquid glue. I also created the sentiment with a stamp from the Dearest Friend set, VersaMark watermark ink, and WoW! Gold embossing powder that I heat set. I cut out the completed sentiment with a sentiment label from my collection and then adhered it to the background with some pop dots to give it some added dimension. With that, I called the card complete.
