Stargazer Lily

An Altenew Inspired Card

Good day, fellow crafters. Today I present to you a project that has filled me with joy from start to finish. As a passionate creator, few things bring me as much satisfaction as bringing the beauty of nature into my craft. The Star Gazer Lily holds a special place in my heart, with its vibrant colors and elegant form and I am over joyed that I could recreate them in paper form. I hope you enjoy.

To create this card, I first began by creating the paper colors that I would need to match what I had in my mind’s eye. For this, I turned to Distress Oxide sprays in the colors Mowed Lawn, Picked Raspberry, Vintage Photo, Rustic Wilderness, Wild Honey, Saltwater Taffy, Peeled Paint, and Mustard Seed. Make sure to use a splat box or some other method of controlling where any over-spray goes as it could stain your worksurfaces. I sprayed white cardstock with the previously identified colors until my desired look was achieved. I then set the cardstock aside to allow it to dry completely.

The next step after everything was dry was to use the Altenew Stargazer Lily layering die set, featured left, and my Gemini die-cutting machine to cut out all the pieces. I then assembled all of the flowers and foliage using Bearly Arts liquid glue and set them aside to dry.

The next step was to create the background panel. For this I chose some cream colored cardstock and the Altenew Diamond Stars 3D embossing folder, featured right. After misting the back of the cardstock to soften the paper fibers, I placed the cardstock into the embossing folder and then ran it through my Gemini. I usually do this at least twice with every embossing folder but with the 3D ones I like to do it three times. This ensures a nice crisp image transfer.

Next, I used my Hero Arts rectangular nesting die set, to first cut the background panel down to its final dimensions and then followed that up with a slightly larger die and some black cardstock to cut out a mat. I then used double-sided tape to adhere the background panel to the mat and then repeated the process to adhere the composite to a white card base. After that was in place I used more liquid glue to adhere the Stargazer Lilies into place.

To finish the card, I used a sentiment die from the Altenew All About You Word Die set which I cut out and included its accompanying shadow. I adhered these together and then mounted them to the card with liquid glue. With that, I called the card complete.
