Christmas Shaker Card
Caroling Christmas Card - February 2024
Good day, fellow crafters. Today I present to you my submission to the IG Caroling Christmas Cards Hop! We are creating holiday cards year-round while being inspired by some of our favorite Christmas music. Two songs are selected each month as our inspiration theme. This month the playlist includes "I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas" or as I chose "O Christmas Tree". I hope you enjoy my submission to these challenges.
To create this shaker card, I began with some white cardstock, Staedtler Watercolor brush pens, and a Recollections brand Christmas tree stamp from my collection. Using the watercolor brush pens I added pigment to the stamp and then stamped the image onto the white cardstock.
I next used the Hero Arts Nested Oval dies and my Gemini die-cutting machine to trim the stamped image, a sheet of acetate for the shaker window, and a black cardstock window frame. Once those pieces were cut out I used foam tape to create a wall around my image to contain the shaker elements. To prevent static within the shaker I dusted the image with my anti-static bag before adding the shaker elements and sealing up the shaker.
The next step in the process was to trim the background panel to its final size using the Hero Arts Nest rectangle dies and the Christmas-colored patterned paper from my collection. I then adhered the background panel to a white card base using double-sided tape. I then adhered the shaker to the background panel with Bearly Arts liquid glue.
To finish the card, I used a sentiment from my collection which I heat embossed in gold on black cardstock and mounted to the card face. Wit that, I called the card complete.
