SSS Wednesday Challenge Entry: Interactive
Good day, fellow crafters. Welcome to my entry for the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge! I am thrilled to share my creation inspired by the theme of interactive cards. This challenge has truly ignited my imagination and pushed the boundaries of my paper crafting skills. I have seen many tutorials on making these cards but have up until now never tried one myself. To be honest I had a blast creating this, crafting interactive cards has challenged me to think beyond the traditional card-making approach.
As I showcase my entry in this challenge, I am excited to share my unique interpretation of interactivity. Through this creation, I aim to tell a story, convey a message, and connect with others in a special way. I hope my card brings joy, surprise, and delight to the lucky recipient.
As previously mentioned, although the technique of creating an interactive card was new to me, the methods employed in its creation were quite familiar. I began with a sheet of white cardstock and utilized Ranger's Distress Oxide in Salty Ocean, Kitsch Flamingo, and Seedless Preserve for ink blending the background, crafting a serene early evening skyscape. This particular color combination perfectly complemented the mood I envisioned, adding an extra touch of enchantment to the overall design.
While the background was drying, I moved to the foreground element of the little girl blowing bubbles from Creative Expressions. To do this I utilized a 6”x6” piece of acetate, which I cut down later, my Misti, and StazOn ink in both Jet Black and Plum. To get the effect I wanted for the image I had to stamp each color a couple of times and then let it dry overnight.
The next step was to create the box portion of the shaker card. To do this I placed a double stack of 1/8” foam tape around the perimeter of the card making sure to not leave any gaps that so that my insides didn’t become outsides. I then used a black alcohol marker to color around the outside of the card to hide the foam tape.
Now, let's talk about the delightful contents within. In line with the theme I aimed to create, I delved into my collection of sequins to discover the perfect ones. I'd like to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude to all the companies I've ordered supplies from, as the sequins, including the charming little stars featured in this project, were all acquired through various free gifts included in my orders over the years. While the sequins coordinate beautifully with my theme, it's the little stars that are my favorite addition.
To complete the assembly of the shaker box, I carefully trimmed the acetate to its final dimensions and secured it in place using the previously placed foam tape. Next, I crafted a window-framed mat using black cardstock to cover the construction, which I then adhered over the acetate. This entire assembly was mounted onto a black card base, with the inside of the card lined with corresponding purple cardstock, creating a perfect space to include a message.
For the sentiment, I turned to the Hero Arts Volcano Heroscape (CM514) Layering set. Using embossing ink, I stamped the sentiment onto the card and coated it with gold embossing powder. Applying heat, I ensured the embossing powder was set, creating a stunning and impactful focal point for the card.
Thank you for joining me on this creative journey as I shared my entry for the challenge. I hope that my interactive card brings joy, surprise, and a sense of wonder to those who experience it.
