Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge

Add a Sentiment

Good day, fellow crafters. I am thrilled to showcase my entry for this week's exciting theme, "Add a Sentiment” over at Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge blog. As an avid card maker and lover of heartfelt messages, this challenge speaks directly to my creative spirit. It is a wonderful opportunity to combine my passion for paper crafting with the power of words, allowing me to convey emotions, thoughts, and well wishes through the art of cardmaking. I am truly honored to participate in this inspiring challenge and look forward to the opportunity to connect with fellow crafters and explore the myriad ways sentiments can transform a simple card into a heartfelt gift. I hope you enjoy it.

To craft the captivating background for this card, I prepare my supplies so they were readily available. I started with high-quality white cardstock as the foundation, then incorporated the Inkadinkado Modern Flower Flourish stamp set (60-30380), clear embossing ink and WoW White embossing powder, to add a touch of elegance. With my heat gun in hand, I brought the embossed design to life. The reason I choose to do this first is that the embossing powder acts as a resist to the inks and I don’t have to wait for the ink to dry to prevent the embossing powder from sticking where I don’t intend it to be.

To infuse the background with one of my favorite color schemes, I turned to my Ranger's Distress Oxide collection. Shades like Shaded Lilac, Kitsch Flamingo, and Faded Jeans lend an alluring palette to the card. I blended the background to the hues I was looking for with my blending brushes and once they were where I wanted them to be, I used a microfiber cloth to whip any excess ink off of my embossed images and set the background aside to dry completely.

For the sentiment, I utilized Erin Lee Creative’s foil plates, my hot foil machine, and a shimmery metallic purple foil. The gentle application of heat releases the foil's shimmer adding a touch of glamour to the design and stands out against the colored background.

Finally, after choosing a black cardstock to add contrast to the design and adding some soft violet flat backed pearls for dimension I assemble my masterpiece on a pre-cut white A2 card base.

The creative process for this card has been a labor of love, combining artistic techniques and thoughtful design choices to create a card that I know will resonate with its intended recipient. I am glad for the opportunity to have shared this card with you and hope that I have inspired you to create and share your own works.
