Rediscover Your Stash - May 2023
Good day, fellow crafters. In the world of crafting and creativity, stashed crafting supplies serve as hidden treasures waiting to be discovered. Whether tucked away in a forgotten drawer, stowed in an old box, or carefully organized in a secret nook, these collections of materials hold immense potential. Unearthing these forgotten gems not only rejuvenates our creative spirits but also opens up a world of innovative projects and personalized creations. I hope you enjoy my journey as I delve into using my stashed supplies.
I dug deep in my supplies for ideas for creating this card, in fact, I dug so deep that some of the paper was literally from a scrapbook paper pack that was 20 years old, and don’t judge, STILL SEALED. In my defense though like I said in the introduction it was in a secret nook, I just happened to have forgotten about that nook until I recently moved my craft studio, though saying that does make it sound worse.
To create this card I began with some white cardstock, a Gina K’s wreath builder stamp set from 2018, and a wreath builder template. To use the wreath builder, first, align the template on your base and secure it with tape. Pick a focal image or sentiment and position it within the template, I chose the two presents since it is for a birthday card. Stamp the image using your preferred ink color, in this case black. Rotate the template in the same direction, align the next stamp, and continue stamping until your wreath is complete. It is very simple to do and makes a great-looking wreath. For coloring of the card I used my Copic markers for the presents but I stamped the curled ribbon from Gina K inks that corresponded to the colors of my background mat.
The mat I chose to use was bright and cheerful and I felt that when combined with the idea of the birthday presents it was a perfect solution. I cut it down to size and adhered the background to it. Then to visually make the colors stand out more, I mounted that to a blue mat, then the assembly to a pre-cut A2 white card base.
The sentiment was stamped in black ink from the wreath builder set as well.
The journey of using stashed crafting supplies is a delightful exploration of forgotten treasures. As in my example, as I delved into my supplies, I unearthed scrapbook paper that had been sealed for two decades. While it may seem amusingly neglectful, it also highlights the excitement of rediscovery and the endless possibilities of repurposing, in fact I have already used most of this pack since creating this card for other projects.
