Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge
Watercolor
Good day, fellow crafters. I am delighted to share with you my entry for the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge. I couldn't resist participating in this particular challenge since it revolves around watercolor, and anyone familiar with my creations knows that I have a deep passion for this medium. Taking on this challenge brought me immense joy as I indulged in the opportunity to paint. I sincerely hope that you find as much enjoyment in my submission as I did in creating it.
To create the background for this card, I first begin by getting my supplies in order. I chose to use a piece of premium white watercolor paper, Altenew’s Crystal Wall 3D Embossing Folder, my watercolor supplies, the Simon Says Stamp Drawn Daisies (SSS102125) stamp set, some yellow cardstock, some black cardstock, and the Picket Fence Studios Thank You Word die.
I started the creation process by stamping the Drawn Daisies onto the watercolor paper and allowing the ink to dry. While that was occurring I added some water to my watercolor pigments and got them ready to paint. As I always mention, this next step is truly delightful and my favorite —painting with watercolors. There is a serene quality to the process, and with a steady hand and a touch of patience, one can create truly remarkable pieces. If I had to give a beginner one tip for making your watercoloring better, it is to start light and build up your colors, you can always add but you can subtract the pigment. Once the coloring was completed I allowed it to dry before I started the next step.
The next step in the process was to cut the yellow cardstock mat and the watercolor background down to their final dimensions, mist the back of each piece, in turn, to prevent cracking or tear out, and then ran run them through the embossing machine in the Crystal Wall 3D Embossing Folder. I then assembled the background and mat, including a piece of yellow ribbon as another layer of texture and visual interest. Finally, this entire assembly was securely adhered to a pre-cut A2 card base, which beautifully complemented the overall design.
To complete this card I used the Thank You Word die set and the black card stock to make my sentiment and then adhered it to the card base.
I hope seeing this card inspired you to either get out your own set of watercolors and enter the challenge or to get your own set of colors and paper and pick up the hobby of watercolor painting.
