Rediscover your Stash IG Hop
Get Well Card
Good day, fellow crafters, and welcome to my entry for the Re-Discovery Hop presented by @craftwithme101. The concept of this hop is to uncover the hidden treasures in our crafting spaces – those items tucked away in drawers, bins, and shelves that have been forgotten, instead of purchasing new supplies. I encourage you to delve into your stash and rediscover what you possess. I'm confident you'll be amazed! Join us on this journey to witness the innovative projects we've crafted using these hidden gems. I trust you'll find pleasure in my contribution to this challenge.
For crafting this card, I opted to explore my collection of stencils. I wanted to find stencils that I hadn't yet utilized or hadn't used in quite some time. Upon checking through my stash, I came across the Mod Layering Leaves stencil (ssst221549) from Simon Says Stamp, featured left. Instantly, I recognized that anything crafted with this stencil would have a cheerful vibe. This was an ideal fit for the current hop's theme, centered around crafting a Get Well card.
To begin I secured some white cardstock to my worksurface and then secured the leaf layer stencil on top of the cardstock. Next, I placed the leaf layer stencil on the cardstock securely. With an ink blending brush and Distress Oxide in the shade Cracked Pistachio, I gently blended the ink through the stencil. I kept blending until the color was uniform throughout. The next step was to remove the leaf stencil, give the ink just a few moments to dry, and then secure the second of the layering stencils on top making sure to align it properly. This time I blended in the Distress Oxide color Wilted Violet. These two colors work really well with one another and look really pleasing to the eye. I then removed the stencil and set aside the newly created background panel to dry fully.
Once dry I utilized my rectangular stitched die set to cut the background panel and a complementary black mat down to their final dimensions. I then adhered them both together with some double-sided tape and then the composite to the pre-cut A2 white card base with some more double-sided tape.
The next step was to create the sentiment. For this I turned to the Simon Says Stamp Get Well Soon die set (sssd111783), featured right. I used the die set to cut out two copies of the die in black cardstock and then adhered them together. This way I can add some visual dimension to the card. I then positioned and adhered them to the card background.
Finally, to add the finishing touches to the card and enhance its visual charm, I looked to Pinkfresh Studio's collection for a selection of gold flat-backed pearls. These pearls came in different sizes, adding a touch of elegance to the design. As I placed them strategically across the card, I adhered to a fundamental design principle: the use of uneven numbers. This principle is rooted in the idea that odd numbers, like 3 or 5, create a sense of balance and visual interest. By incorporating an uneven number of these gold pearls, I ensured that the eye would be naturally guided across the card, resulting in a visually pleasing and harmonious composition.
