My Time To Craft Inspirational Design
Stencil
Good day, fellow crafters. I am thrilled to introduce my inspirational submission for the My Time To Craft Challenge Blog, challenge #514. For every challenge we, as the design team, attempt to bring you themes and ideas that will test your abilities and, ideally, ignite your enthusiasm to explore fresh ways of thinking. However, what I like most about being part of the team is seeing how we each showcase our take on the theme and sometimes just what the card means to the creator.
I hope you are inspired to enter this challenge and I can’t wait to see your creative take on this week’s theme. Be sure to tag me on your entry and/or comment below so I know to watch out for you. Remember Crafting is Happiness!
This challenge is all about the stencil being the foremost focus of the card. So to do this I began with a piece of white cardstock and ink blended a few of my favorite colors together in a horizontal band pattern. Once I got the hues I wanted I set it aside to dry.
The next step was to add the stencil. I wanted to allow the beautiful background color to shine through so once it was completely dry I secured the background panel and my stencil to my work surface. Then I used the Floral Ornate (60531E) stencil from Waverly Inspirations that I believe I procured at Walmart, along with some black ink which I blended over the stencil. Once that had dried I spritzed on some shimmer spray to give it a little pizazz.
The last step for the card background panel was to add the sentiment. I choose to use one from a Picket Fence Studio set called Graceful Koi that just spoke to me. I placed my background panel into my Misti stamping tool and aligned the sentiment stamp. I then
used some clear embossing ink to stamp the sentiment onto the background panel. I like to re-ink and stamp again several times just to ensure adequate coverage with this product because sometimes it is difficult to see the shine of the ink in the light to know it’s covered. This of course is important because the next step was to add gold embossing powder and heat set it with my heating tool. If any coverage is missing then your embossing is left with holes.
To complete this card I trimmed the background panel to its final dimensions along with a black mat that really sets off this card beautifully. I adhered them together and then adhered the composite to a pre-cut and folded white square card base.
I hope you find inspiration in my creation and want to create something yourself as we at My Time to Craft would love to see it.
