My Favorite Things Color Challenge
#216
Good day, fellow crafters. I am thrilled to share my submission for the My Favorite Things (MFT) Color Challenge #216. These challenges always provide us with a beautiful color palette to work with (you can find it below my entry). It's fantastic that we're not restricted to using only the exact colors, as it allows for creativity and flexibility. While I didn't have all the precise matches in my collection, I did manage to find some very close alternatives.
By presenting my work, I hope to inspire all of you to embark on your own creative journey. This community has been incredibly supportive and would undoubtedly appreciate seeing your creations as well. So, feel free to join in! In the meantime, I hope you enjoy viewing my submission.
Lately, my mind has been fixated on beach and underwater scenes, and it's not just because they've been the focus of recent challenges. You see, I'm a passionate Scuba Diver, and until the events of the last couple of years unfolded, I used to spend a lot of time in the water. Life's circumstances have conspired to keep me away from diving, but that hasn't stopped me from daydreaming about it. I suppose, for now, I'll have to channel that longing into creating these cards.
For this particular card, I began by working on the background panel. Using the MFT Wave Maker stencil (ST-129) and Gina K ink in the color Sea Glass, I meticulously blended the waves onto white cardstock. Starting from the top, I layered the different wave patterns down the page. With that done, I set the background aside to let it dry.
In the next phase, I began crafting these charming fishy companions using the MFT Gill Friends stamp set (BB-060). Using black ink, I carefully stamped the images onto white Hammermill paper. With that done, I proceeded to prepare my watercolors.
On my glass mat, I smooshed Gina K inks in the shades of Tangerine Twist, Wild Dandelion, and Ocean Mist. After spritzing them with water, I used my water brush pen to pick up the pigments and watercolor each of the stamped images. I set them aside and allowed them to dry and when ready fussy cut each of them out.
Moving on to the assembly stage, I began by trimming the background panel to its final dimensions, along with a light blue mat that complemented it perfectly. These two pieces were adhered together and then mounted onto a pre-cut A2 white card base.
Next, I positioned all the fishy friends exactly where I wanted them and securely glued them into place. To add a touch of visual charm, I embellished the scene with various flat-backed gems and sequins to create the illusion of tiny air bubbles.
Lastly, to bring it all together, I selected a sentiment from my stash and stamped it in black ink, completing this delightful underwater-themed card.
