Stay Crafty With A Blog Called Hero

I’ll Be There for You

Good day, fellow crafters. Today I am working on cards for some of my favorite challenge blogs, including this one for Hero Arts. If you would like to join there is still plenty of time to get in on the fun, to get there just click the link under their banner above.

To create the background panel for this card, I began with some some white cardstock and my dedicated blue ink blending bush. Starting for the outside edges I worked my way to the center cleaning out my brush. This method has the added benefit that you can create a vignette look if you do it correctly.

Using black pigment ink and the now-retired Clearly Besotted Ring Around Fall set, which is featured on the left, I carefully stamped out the sunflower images and the sentiment. Please note that since this set has been retired, those interested in acquiring it may need to explore the secondary market for availability.

Once the image was stamped, I turned to PrismaColor colored pencils to add depth, shade, and highlights to the sunflower illustration. I tried to take my time with this step to make sure I had the overall look I was trying to achieve.

The last phase was the assembly and embellishment. I trimmed my background panel do to its final dimensions and then cut a black mat for visual interest. I adhered the two together with double-sided tape and then adhered the composite to a pre-folded and cut A2 white card base. To add just a bit more visual appeal I added some blue glitter dots I received for free as part of one of my supply orders. With that I called this card complete.
