National Suicide Prevention Week
Self Care/Mental Health Care
Good day, fellow crafters. National Suicide Prevention Week is an important occasion that brings attention to a topic that affects countless lives around the globe. At Forget-Me-Not Card Company, we believe that fostering connections and spreading positivity is at the heart of what we do, and addressing such critical issues aligns with our mission. All this week we are joining with other crafters and cardmakers to create works that will serve to remind the recipient that they are not forgotten or alone. Please feel free to hop along with us on IG using my post as a starter or by finding our works using any of the following hashtags: #stopsuicide #realconvo #realtalk #suicideprevention #itsokaynottobeokay #mentalhealthmatters #selfcare #youarenotalone

For the final card in this week’s submissions, I wanted to bring the tone down from my previous ones so I opted for a tranquil motif. Sometimes, in the hustle and bustle of our daily lives, we often forget the importance of stillness. We're constantly told to be productive and to fill every moment with activity. But let's remember this: sometimes, it's perfectly okay to do nothing.
In fact, it's not just okay; it's essential. Self-care isn't just about doing yoga or taking long walks, though those are fantastic practices. It's also about giving yourself permission to sit in silence, to stare out the window, to do absolutely nothing at all.
These moments of 'non-doing' are where you find the calm in the chaos, where you replenish your spirit, and where you reconnect with yourself. It's not laziness; it's self-compassion. So, next time you feel guilty about taking a break, remember that in those moments of stillness, you're nurturing your soul. Embrace the art of doing nothing, for it's in those quiet moments that you'll find the truest form of self-care.
To create this card I utilized the Picket Fence Studios Escape with Me stamp set, featured above, and VersaFine Clair’s Morning Mist ink to stamp the image. I gave the ink some time to dry and then set about adding the color to the image with my Nuvo watercolor pencil set. As a way to relax myself, I made sure to not rush around to complete it, I made sure that my fur babies were taken care of, I made sure I had a beverage on hand, and most important of all had the phone “off the hook” while I worked. Once it was completed I set it aside to dry.
The next step was, utilizing the same ink, to stamp the sentiment onto the background panel. The sentiment I used was from the same stamp set and fit the theme exactly. Once that was completed I trimmed the panel to its final dimensions, trimmed a black mat to fit as a way to visually frame and enhance my image, and then adhered them together with double-sided tape. Lastly, I adhered the composite panels to a pre-cut and folded white A2 card base.
