Cupcake Inspirations Challenge #575
Add a Bow
Good day, fellow crafters. Today’s card is my submission to the Cupcake Inspirations Challenge #575. This time around, the challenge theme revolves around incorporating a bow design into your creation. I still have a beach vacation on my mind so when I saw that I had a way to incorporate the idea into this design I took it. I hope you enjoy my submission.
To create this card I began with some white cardstock, Gina K’s Kraft colored ink as well as Lawn Fawn inks in the colors Doe and Chruncy Leaf, and the Sandy Shores background stamp from Honey Bee Stamps. I first ink-blended the two colors together to get a nice base hue that resembled sand, then inked up the stamp to get the darker and visually larger grains of sand utilizing the Kraft ink. I feel that without covering the card in real sand this background stamp gets you pretty close to the real thing so I keep it handy for my projects.
The next step for the project was to focus on the foreground element. In this case, I choose to use the Flip Flop Builder die set from Honey Bee Stamps in particular because it includes a couple of variations of bows as part of the set. For the sole of the flip flop I chose some really cute patterned paper I had on hand and it did not disappoint once I had it cut out. The next part to cut out was the straps, which I did from a light green pastel cardstock that complemented the green polka dots of the patterned paper very favorably. Lastly, I choose a brighter but still pastel-colored blue cardstock for the bow, and really shouts BEACH! With all the pieces in hand, I assembled them all with a little liquid glue, however before setting them aside to dry I chose to add some visual appeal with a flat-back gem in the center of each of the bows.
The final stage of construction was the assembly of the card. I trimmed the background panel and the green mat, which was the same piece of cardstock the straps came from, to their final dimensions and adhered the two pieces together. I then adhered that composite to a pre-cut A2 white card base. Next, the flip-flops were positioned on the background to allow room for the sentiment and adhered into place. To complete the card I utilized the Honey Bee Stamp Flipping Fabulous stamp set, featured left, and some black ink to apply the sentiment to the card.
