Cup of Whip
National Holiday Hop 2024
Good day, fellow crafters. National Whipped Cream Day traces its roots back to the United States, with its origins shrouded in a bit of mystery. While the exact inception is unclear, it has become a charming annual observance on January 5th, celebrated by food enthusiasts and dessert lovers alike. This delightful day provides a perfect opportunity for indulging in the creamy goodness of whipped cream. I hope you enjoy.
To create this card I first began with a sheet of patterned paper from my collection and the My Favorite Things die set, featured left. Using my Gemini die-cutting machine I cut the coffee mug out and then set it aside.
The next step was to create the background panel. For this step I decided that I didn’t have the right sentiment in my collection for what I wanted so I turned to my Cricut Maker, some pink cardstock, and a teal pen and crafted my very own sentiment. Unless the font is super tiny the Cricut does not fill in the lettering so once it was done creating the panel I used the pen to finish coloring in the font.
The next stage was assembly. Using a Hero Arts rectangular nesting die set, I first cut the background panel down to its final dimensions and then followed that up with a slightly larger die and some teal cardstock to cut out a mat. I then used double-sided tape to adhere the background panel to the mat and then repeated the process to adhere the composite to a white card base.
The last step was to add the focal elements. To do this I adhered the cup to the background panel with Bearly Art liquid glue and then I used Ranger texture paste and Tim Holtz Distress Rock Candy for the whipped cream. With that, I called the card complete.
