Creating with ReInkers

Good day, fellow crafters. Today, I am excited to explore a new technique that was recently introduced to me. Having tried it myself, I cannot wait to share it with you. Despite its simplicity, this technique can produce an incredibly striking and vivid effect on your cards I hope you enjoy it.

As previously mentioned, this technique is incredibly easy to execute. All you need is watercolor paper, a reinker (in your preferred shade), water, a suitable paintbrush, and a glass mat. To begin, dampen the watercolor paper with water, making sure it is not overly wet, to allow the ink to flow smoothly on the paper. Next, drop a few drops of reinker onto the glass mat. Personally, I recommend using a glass mat because the ink won't bead up or run around the mat like it might on a silicone mat. Wet your paintbrush, then pick up some of the reinker and apply it to your background or image. It's that simple!

For my card, I started with Off-White watercolor paper and Ranger's Artic Blue reinker to create the main background. Once it dried, I sprayed it with Imagine's Sheer Shimmer Spray and used silver/gray metallic watercolor paint to add a splatter effect. I then cut the background and black mat to size using the Simon Says Stamp Nested Ovals, adhered them together, and then to the pre-cut card base.

I used the same technique to create the flowers, which were first stamped using the Altenew Hello Gorgeous stamp and die set and Black archival ink. Once they were dry, I cut them out with the corresponding die and mounted them onto the card background.

For the sentiment, I used the Honey Bee Stamps Scallop A2 card frames, clear ink, Tonic Studios Silver embossing powder, and the Dearest Friend stamp set from Altenew.

I hope you find this technique as easy to use as I did and are inspired to create your own beautiful card!
