Boutique Design

Good day fellow crafters. Today I was working with the idea of creating a card that would fall in the category of Boutique cards and I was struggling with a source of inspiration. I knew I needed to come up with something so I eventually settled on drawing inspiration from a Sarah Clark Designs Color cube.

Now I am not paid to endorse these but I have found them to be very valuable when trying to choose color combinations that fit the mood of what I am trying to create so I am sharing them with you. There are two “volumes” that come with 250 cards each and are set up just like the one on the left (sorry for the less than “stellar” picture) that provide you with a reference image and corresponding colors. The cards even come with hex codes for use in digital work. I hope you enjoy.

To kick off making this card, I selected some shimmering cardstock that complemented the hues of my inspiration card. Using the Dodec Cover Die from Altenew and my die-cut machine, I crafted this elaborate backdrop that I was utterly enamored with. To highlight the sparkle, I affixed Kraft cardstock as a backing and matted it with Mint Green cardstock. Finally, I attached the assembled background to a pre-cut A2 card made of the same Kraft cardstock. For the sentiment, I utilized Simon Hurley's Everyday Sentiments die set and Green cardstock, which I then framed in Black and affixed to the card base.
