Birthday Balloons
Good day fellow crafters. I wanted to take this opportunity to try an experiment a bit with this card. I think based on the description below you will see what I was attempting. I think it turned out pretty well. I hope you enjoy.
To create this card I started with the Simon Says Stamps Clouds for Days stencil set and inked it with Distress Oxide’s Speckled Egg. After the background was finished I started on the ballons which was to be the focus of my experiment.
I wanted to provide a more masculine feeling for this card so I used blue, green and yellow cardstock to cut out the balloon shapes from the MFT Balloon Builder die set. The “shine mark” on the balloon was cut from vellum, run through my Xyron machine to make it a sticker, and added to the balloon cut outs. They were all then coverd with Glossy Accents and set aside to dry. The reason for this choice was to give it the look of a real latex balloon. The photo doesn’t do it as much justice as seeing in person, it turned out much better than expected. Once the ballons were dried I added yellow DMC floss for the balloon string and let it hang freely and adheared the ballons. The green balloon was mounted using pop dots for added dimension while blue and yellow were surface mounted.
For the sentiment I used Pretty Pink Posh’s Happy Birthday script die set with black card stock which I layered together three times for height. I then matted the background with the same green cardstock as the green balloon and then the adheared the background to a precut A2 White card base.
