Make My Monday Challenge
Aperture Cards
Good day, fellow crafters. Today I present to you my entry into the Make My Monday Challenge. The theme of this week’s challenge is Aperture cards and I decided to try it out because I realized that except for exploring the concept in the realm of creating shaker cards I haven’t made this style of cards a focus in my my crafting. I decided to stick to simple but subtle with this one so I hope you enjoy my submission.
The star, forgive the pun, of this card is the Hero Arts Geometric Sun (DI837) die set. I wanted to do something that was basic but at the same time would make a statement and I felt this was perfect. So the next step was to select the paper that would help carry the design. I settled on the polka-dot piece that you see in the background because it was both vibrant and reminiscent of summer sunshine. The paper within the aperture is a metallic gold glitter paper that when combined just screams sunshine.
I next took my Sun die and used it to make the cut out which is the aperture for this card. Once that was completed I trimmed it and a black mat for visual interest down to their final dimensions. I then took the metallic gold glitter paper and trimmed it down to fit behind the aperture making extra sure it wasn’t too small. Once all of the pieces were cut I adhered them all together and then mounted them to a pre-cut A2 white card base.
To finish the card, I needed to find the perfect sentiment. I decided to go with the Sunshine Script die from Pretty Pink Posh and used it to cut out two copies of the sentiment, which I then double-stacked and mounted to the card base as well.
While this one may be simple and quick, I feel that this card would really brighten someone’s day. After all this card is a real ray of sunshine! Its warmth would eclipse any worries and bring a smile that shines brighter than the sun itself. It's like sending a burst of solar energy right into their heart, charging them with positivity and good vibes. Ok I will stop….though I have plenty more puns where those came from.
