Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge
Four Legged Friends
Good day, fellow crafters. Today I present to you my entry into the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge. The challenge prompt for this week is four-legged friends, and I like many of you immediately thought about cats and dogs. Personally Forget Me Not Card Company is more pro-dog but to each their own. Seeing as that was my immediate thought and I like to do challenges with an eye toward expanding my horizon, I decided to step out of my comfort zone and opt for something beyond my first instinct. It's essential for growth and creativity to explore new avenues and embrace the unfamiliar. So, without further ado, I present to you my unique take on the "four-legged friends" theme, which I hope will surprise and inspire!
To begin this project, I first began with the background. To get this sky-like effect, I took Simon Says Stamp ink, the colors pictured on the left, and some of my Hammermill paper as my material choices. I took each of the ink pads and smooshed out a bit of ink from each color onto my glass mat, spritzed them with a little water, and then swirled them ever so gently with a brush to give it just a subtle blend. Then taking my Hammermill paper I pressed it onto the inks and let it absorb it. Once I had soaked up as much ink as it could I set it aside to dry.
The next step was to create my cute little four-legged friend for this challenge. I decided to go with this little guy from the Pink Pink Posh Monkey Friends stamp set, and in order to create his jungle home I used the Sunny Studios Topical Scenes (SSCL-263) set that I picked up from the SSS website some time ago. This is a useful set for creating multiple different scenes so it would be one I would suggest you might find it useful the way I have.
The next step was to take some more Hammermill paper and stamp each of the elements out in black ink. Then using the Altenew ink colors above, I smooshed a bit of each down onto my glass mat, spritzed with water, and then using my water brush pen picked up the inks and watercolored my images. I then set it aside and allowed it then to dry.
While that was occurring my background had fully dried, so I trimmed it to its final dimension as well as a black mat for visual interest and then adhered them together and then onto the pre-cut A2 white card base. Since I knew where my cute little monkey friend was going to be placed I went ahead and stamped the sentiment, also from the Monkey Friends stamp set, in black ink.
Finally, once my other elements had completely dried, I fussy cut them out and adhered everything to the background panel.
I hope you have found some inspiration in this card to create something unique of your own. Be sure to leave a comment below, even if it is just to say hello, I really like it when people say hello. Remember Crafting is Happiness!
