For this particular card, I've decided to go with a design for a holiday other than the obvious choice of Christmas. My card will be one to celebrate the coming New Year. The celebration of the New Year has ancient origins, dating back thousands of years with the earliest recorded traced back to ancient Mesopotamia around 2000 BCE. New Year's is widely celebrated as it marks the beginning of a fresh calendar year. People around the world view it as an opportunity for a new start, setting resolutions, and reflecting on the past while looking forward to the future. The celebration is a cultural and global tradition that symbolizes hope, renewal, and the passage of time.

To create this card I first began with a piece of White Hammermill cardstock, an ink-blending brush, and Distress Oxide inks in the colors called Black Soot, Prize Ribbon, Chipped Sapphire, and Villainous Potion to create a beautiful night sky for my fireworks display. Since all of these colors are really deep I made sure to use only light pressure with the ink-blending brush so that I could build to the final hue slowly.

The next step was to create the stars of any nighttime show, the fireworks themselves. For this, I turned to a stamp set from Globleland called Fireworks (DIY-WH0167-56-423) featured left. I took my background panel and positioned it in my Misti stamping tool and then aligned a stamp to where I wanted it placed in the sky. I next inked and stamped the image with clear embossing ink, applied a colored embossing powder, and then heat-set the powder. I repeated this process with each of the firework burst stamps. The colors I chose to use included Canary Yellow, Ruby Red, Blue, Classic Gold, Purple, Emerald, and a Rainbow Sparkle.

The next step in the process was to trim the background panel to its final dimensions as well as a black mat for extra visual appeal. I then adhered the background panel to the mat with double-sided tape and then the composite to a pre-cut and folded white card base.

The last step was to create the sentiment. For this card, I opted for the Happy New Year foil and die set from Trinity Stamps, featured right, and white cardstock. Utilizing my Glimmer system I heated the foil plate, my machine takes three heats to get to the perfect temperature, and used Spellbinders heat foil in Polished Brass to create the text. I then used the associated die and cut the sentiment out. I adhered the sentiment to the background panel with pop dots to give it some added dimension. With that, I called the card complete.
