Wacky Holiday Hop - December
National Forest Day
Good day, fellow crafters. Today I present to you my entry into the Wacky Holiday Hop for November. In this month's Wacky Holiday Hop entry, I'd like to introduce National Forrest Day celebrated on December 23. National Forest Day is an annual observance that celebrates the importance of forests and encourages awareness about their role in sustaining ecosystems. This day serves as a reminder of the significance of forests in providing habitat for diverse species, supporting biodiversity, and contributing to the overall well-being of the planet. It's an opportunity to promote responsible forest management and conservation practices. For those interested in connecting with nature, National Forest Day can be a great occasion to explore local forests, appreciate their beauty, and gain a deeper understanding of the vital role they play in maintaining a healthy environment. I hope you enjoy my submission to these challenges.

To create this card I began with some white Hammermill cardstock and the ink left over on my blue family of inks ink-blending brush to create the sky blended down to a faint horizon line. Next, I used the Simon Hurley Treescapes stamp set, featured left, and my Misti stamping tool to stamp the tree line image. I did this in several steps utilizing Simon Hurley inks in the colors Later Gator, Fake Plant for the greens, and then Weeping Willow and Shady for the browns.
Since the stamp is long and narrow I decided that I would make this card a slim line design, so the next step was to use my Spellbinders Slim Line A dies to cut out the background panel and a black mat to use for visual appeal. I then adhered the background panel to the mat with double-sided tape and then the composite to a slim-line card base in white.
The last step was to use a sentiment from the Picket Fence Studio Dandelion Delight stamp set, featured right, and some black ink to stamp the sentiment directly onto the card. To stick with the overall theme of the card and the purpose of the holiday, I chose the sentiment “Embrace the Magic of Nature” as my message to the viewer. With that, i called the card complete.
In embracing the magic of nature, National Forest Day serves as a poignant reminder of the enchanting beauty and vital importance of our forests, inspiring us to appreciate and safeguard these natural wonders for generations to come.
