Challenge #489 - Three Item Cluster
Good day, fellow crafters. Today I present another entry to a Use Your Stuff Challenge Blog contest. The spotlight of this edition is the captivating theme of the "Three Item Cluster," inviting participants to explore intriguing design possibilities while using supplies you already own. Join me as I unveil my design solution and delve into the creative process that brought it to life. I hope you enjoy.
The background panel for this card was created on cold press watercolor paper utilizing a cluster of lilies stamp, featured left, from Globleland, and some VersaFine Clair Nocturne ink. I do apologize that I don’t have a better image or name for this stamp set but I have had it a very long time.
Moving forward, I proceeded to infuse my colors into the artwork. To achieve this, I employed Distress Oxide in the shades showcased in the image located below on the right-hand side. Implementing a technique known as "smooshing," I transferred the ink from each colored ink pad onto my glass mat. A gentle spritz of water then followed suit, after which using my watercolor brush pen I picked up the pigments and painted them onto the paper. This approach to color infusion resonates deeply with me, as it yields a gentle organic appearance that truly captivates the eye as well as is a stress reducing application method for me personally. Once I had completed the water coloring I set aside the panel to allow it to dry naturally.
Once the panel was dry I used a set of nested oval dies to cut the panel and a beautiful pink mat to their final dimension then adhered both to a second lighter pink mat that complemented the image nicely. This composite was then adhered to a white card base.
To finish this card off and give it some visual appeal I utilized some flat-backed gems from Pink Fresh Studio in a color called Ballet Slippers.
