Things With Wings: SSS Wednesday Challenge Entry #2
Good day, fellow crafters. I'm thrilled to showcase my second submission for this week's Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge with you, which prompts us to create a design that features "Things With Wings". In that vain my latest creation features one of the most graceful and mesmerizing creatures - butterflies! As I started working on this project, I couldn't help but marvel at the intricate patterns and vibrant colors of these delicate insects. With their gentle flutters and whimsical flight paths, butterflies never fail to captivate us and remind us of the beauty of nature. I hope you enjoy it.
To create this card I first began with a piece of White cardstock, VersaMark clear embossing ink, the Stampedous Painted Lady stamp set, which is unfortunately out of stock at the time of this publication which is a shame because it is gorgeous, and Brutus Monroe Raven embossing powder that I heat set. Next, using the embossing powder as a resist I used Karin Brushmarker watercolor pens to color in my images, which turned out incredibly well. I then set it aside to dry while I worked on the background.
To create the mat for my background I decided to use the Picot Petite rectangle from Spellbinders and Black cardstock. I was today years old when I learned that "Picot Petite" is a French term that refers to a type of stitch or edging that involves creating a series of small loops, known as "picots", along the edge of the fabric. These loops can be used to create a decorative effect or to add a bit of texture to the design. Once it was cut out I adhered my background to it and then mounted them to a pre-cut A2 Black card base.
To finish the card off I used the Gina K Never Lose Hope Mini Stamp set and the Raven embossing powder for the sentiment and to then add flair I turned to Kat Scrappiness and their Sky Blue flat-backed pearls.
