Sharing Summer Cardmaking Challenge 5

Summer Nights

Good day, fellow crafters. Today I am sharing with you my entry into this week’s Sharing Summer Cardmaking Challenge! This is the last challenge post for this series hosted by @thatcraftygolden and it has been a lot of fun interacting and learning from everyone who has been participating. The theme for this final challenge is Summer Nights, and for me, nothing says summer nights better than the sunset as viewed from the beach. I hope you enjoy my submission to this challenge.

*Creators Note* My entry for this hop was created with the Hero Arts June 2023 Monthly subscription kit, so if you want to duplicate it or want to use any of the same stamps featured in the first image on the left you may have to search a third party source to find it.

To create my background panel I first started with some white cardstock that I roughly divided in half and masked off, as to create a horizon line. I then used the Atlenew inks, featured above right, to ink-blend the cloudless sky during sunset. Once that was complete I used a circle stencil and some Altenew ink in Citrus Burst, not pictured, to ink-blend the setting sun. Next, after carefully adjusting the mask I used a combination of the Gina K inks, above center, to ink-blend the lighter tones of the ocean. Once that dried I removed the masking, placed the background panel into my Misti stamping tool, aligned the ocean stamp to meet the horizon line, and then inked and stamped the darker shades of the ocean. The final step in creating the background panel was to add the birds, the boat, and the sentiment all in black so as to cast them into silhouette for the viewer.

Finally, I trimmed the background panel down to its final dimensions as well as a black mat for visual appeal and adhered them together with double-sided tape. Next, I completed the card by adhering the composite together with a pre-cut and folded A2 white card base.
