Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge
Christmas
Good day, fellow crafters. Today I present to you a creation for the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge that I just completed. This week's theme challenge is Christmas and I have been itching to use some new to-me products in my design. I hope you enjoy my submission.
To create this card I first began with the background panel that became this beautiful evening sky. I used a circle stencil in the size I wanted for the full moon and then blended in my colors. Once I was satisfied with that I masked it off and blended in the background. Unfortunately, I can’t give you the exact colors I used as I simply had taken the time to clean off my ink-blending brushes to get this effect. The one color I can say for sure I incorporated was Distress Oxide in the color Soot that I used around the edges to darken it ever so slightly.
The next step was to create the foreground image of the card. To accomplish this I turned to the Pine Trees stamp set from Momenta, featured left, that I picked up at my local Hobby Lobby. I first positioned my background panel in my Misti stamping tool, then inked the stamp with a bit of Wendy Veche’s Leaf Green ink and VersaFine Clair inks in Shady Lane and Green Oasis each in turn so that I got the coloring I liked. Once that was completed I allowed the ink to dry completely and then added my snow. For this step, I used my new-to-me tool, the Emboss It pen from Ranger, and some Wow! Embossing Powder in White Puff (WP01UH (O)). What I like about this pen is that you can have so much more individual control over where the embossing ink goes and it really allows you to be much more creative. Using the pen I added the embossing ink to the edges of the trees and then added and set the embossing powder with my heat tool. I really like how this technique makes it pop.
The next step was to add my main focal point for this card, good ole’ Saint Nick. To do this I decided that I wanted to have a more classy look so I decided that a really good way to do that is to use a black silhouette. Using Gina K’s Santa Siloutette, featured right was the perfect solution. Using this die set I cut out my image in black cardstock and adhered it to my background panel.
I next turned to the sentiment, which came from the Hero Arts Monthly Kit from October 2020. I placed the panel in my Misti once again, aligned the sentiment stamp, applied clear embossing ink, and then stamped the image. I next added gold embossing powder and then set it using my heating tool.
Next came assembly. I first trimmed down the background panel to its final dimensions and then to give it some visual appeal adhered it with double-sided tape to a black mat. I then adhered the composite to a pre-cut and folded A2 white card base. With that, I called the card complete.
