Rainbow: SSS Monday Challenge
Good day, fellow crafters. May I present to you my entry for this week’s Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge? If you aren’t familiar with this challenge then be sure to follow the link below my entry for all of the rules and the inspiration pieces created by their team of designers. The inspiration for this week’s challenge is Rainbow. I hope you enjoy it.
To create this card I first thought about how I wanted to showcase rainbow colors that weren’t in the typical rainbow patterns. After searching through my supplies, I discovered a solution - foil cardstock and Perfect Pearls but all against a Black background. While this not only provided the desired colors for this card, it also added a unique texture and a different visual experience to placing it on a more traditionally seen White background.
To begin this card I started with a Spellbinders Oval die, small enough for an A2 card base, and a piece of Green Foil cardstock to create the background mat. I adhered that to a pre-cut A2 Black card base and set it aside. The background was then stamped from the Simon Says Stamp Out to Sea stamp but instead of ink I used Ranger’s Perfect Pearls. To create this effect you first put VersaMark embossing ink on the stamp then paint on the Pearls with a brush. I love how this turned out, the photos don’t give the shimmer enough credit. Once it dried I next cut out the background with a smaller oval die and then adhered it to the card base.
The sentiment was created using the Simon Says Stamp Chunky A2 Scalloped rectangle dies and the Rainbow is My Favorite Color stamp set. I used clear ink and Gold embossing powder to make the sentiment really stand out.
