National Suicide Prevention Week
Hey, How Are You?
Good day, fellow crafters. National Suicide Prevention Week is an important occasion that brings attention to a topic that affects countless lives around the globe. At Forget-Me-Not Card Company, we believe that fostering connections and spreading positivity is at the heart of what we do, and addressing such critical issues aligns with our mission. All this week we are joining with other crafters and cardmakers to create works that will serve to remind the recipient that they are not forgotten or alone. Please feel free to hop along with us on IG using my post as a starter or by finding our works using any of the following hashtags: #stopsuicide #realconvo #realtalk #suicideprevention #itsokaynottobeokay #mentalhealthmatters #selfcare #youarenotalone

For my design intent, I really wanted to go with something that was very bold and forceful and would get my recipient’s attention. I think that sometimes the right kind of attention paid at the right moment is the key to what sets the mood of the day.
The first step to creating this card was the background panel. I began with a black cardstock that I cut down to fit the size of the stencil, featured left. I would provide you the details for it but it came as part of a set that I have had for a long time. I next secured the cardstock to my worksurface and then my stencil over my cardstock. Next using a pallet knife I spread Cosmic Shimmer paste in Glossy Glaze, which is actually a blue color though the studio lighting doesn’t reflect it that way in the still image. I then carefully peeled off the stencil and allowed it to dry overnight.
The next phase was to create the sentiment for this card. Again I was going for bold so I chose a purple shade that screams ”See Me”, and utilized the Simon Says Stamp Archie Alpha dies to cut out my letters. I then first positioned them where I wanted them to be and then attached them with liquid glue.
The last phase was assembly and embellishments. I first trimmed a mat down to its final dimensions. As always, to save materials I cut down to size the very piece I had already die-cut the sentiment letters out of earlier. Then the mat and the background panel were adhered together with double-sided tape. That composite was next added to a gray square card base. I added a few 3D butterfly stickers for visual appeal.
