Patterned Paper Embossing
Good day, fellow crafters. Today I am playing with both patterned paper and “patterned” paper by using an embossing folder. A simple idea and a simple card but I think the results speak for themselves. I hope you enjoy.
In crafting the backdrop for this card, I started with remnants of a patterned paper from a previous project. It was one of those pieces that I couldn't bear to discard, I just really loved the charm of it. My creative ethos revolves around resourcefulness, and wasting materials is simply not an option for me. So, naturally, this adorable scrap found its way into my creative process, becoming the foundation upon which this card's story began to unfold. The first step was to trim the panel down to a manageable size for the Brush Dots embossing folder from Park Lane, featured left. Typically I give my cardstock a little mist of water on the back of them to hydrate the fibers prior to running them through my die-cutting machine so that the paper more easily bends into shape. This paper was a much lighter weight of paper so that step wasn’t necessary, though I still ran it through a couple of times just to be sure it came out nice and crisp. Luckily with the round shape of the dots, there were no sharp edges to deal with so the embossing was successful.
The next step was to trim down a coordinating kraft-colored mat, trim out my sentiment tag from the center, and then adhere the background panel to it with double-sided tape. I then decided to carry through with a brown card base so as to add visual appeal so I cut and folded the card base and then adhered my composite to it with double-sided tape as well.
The last step was to use the sentiment tag that I had cut out using Hero Arts Nested Frame Tag Die and the Honey Bee Stamps Everything Wonderful stamp set, featured right, to create the sentiment. I then mounted the sentiment to the background panel. With that, I called the card complete.
