My Time To Craft Inspirational Design
Dies
Good day, fellow crafters. I am thrilled to introduce my inspirational submission for the My Time To Craft Challenge Blog, challenge #515. For every challenge we, as the design team, attempt to bring you themes and ideas that will test your abilities and, ideally, ignite your enthusiasm to explore fresh ways of thinking. However, what I like most about being part of the team is seeing how we each showcase our take on the theme and sometimes just what the card means to the creator.
I hope you are inspired to enter this challenge and I can’t wait to see your creative take on this week’s theme. Be sure to tag me on your entry and/or comment below so I know to watch out for you. Remember Crafting is Happiness!
This challenge is all about using your dies and die sets to create your next card. The beauty of dies or die sets lies in their simplicity and precision. These sets consist of pre-designed metal dies that allow you to effortlessly cut out intricate shapes and patterns. This means you don't need to be a master artist to achieve professional-looking results. Whether you're crafting with intricate designs, elegant borders, or charming embellishments, a die provides a foolproof way to add a touch of sophistication to your cards that is repeatable every time.
When I created my card for this week’s challenge it was unbearably hot here where I live, get it? un-BEAR-ably…hopefully you at least chuckled, so I decided to make my submission a winter one to help take my mind off of it.
To start, I opted for a soft shade of pale blue, often referred to as ice blue, as my choice of cardstock. Using the Snow Swirls Cover plate by My Favorite Things, shown on the left above, I crafted a background panel that beautifully captures the essence of a blustery scene. For the main elements, I turned to a Sizzix die set with the intriguing name "Bigz Die - Polar Bear #2," featured on the right. This die set allowed me to meticulously cut out a polar bear from white cardstock and a radiant moon from golden glitter cardstock. To enhance the visual appeal, I employed a rectangular square corner die from a Hero Arts set to create a black mat. To provide an elegant backdrop for the sentiment, I utilized a die from an Apothecary label die set.
Truly, these dies greatly simplified the card designing process and made assembling it a breeze. Once all the elements were precisely cut and trimmed to their final dimensions, the next steps fell into place seamlessly. I just needed to carefully adhere them onto a pre-cut and folded A2 white card base. With the sentiment elegantly stamped in white ink and the Polar Bear receiving its final touches, the card came together effortlessly yet beautifully.
I hope you find inspiration in my creation and want to create something yourself as we at My Time to Craft would love to see it.
