My Favorite Things Weekly Sketch Challenge
Challenge #656
Good day, fellow crafters. I'm excited to share my entry for the My Favorite Things (MFT) Weekly Sketch Challenge. You can find the inspiration sketch below my entry and the link to the challenge post below the logo above. Whether or not my work inspires you to participate, I sincerely hope you enjoy it
This week we are creating with the design inspiration of the MFTWSC656 layout, pictured on the left. This layout has a large circle in the middle that I am interpreting to mean that it represents an aperture opening in the card. I arrived at this interpretation because the circle's color matches that of what seems to be a matted frame positioned behind it. So that is how I decided to create this card.
To begin constructing this card I had to make sure I had some circle dies that would be large enough to provide an opening for the design I had settled on. Since my chosen theme revolves around Love, I found the perfect sentiment, "You are so loved" (CS-637) from MFT, shown on the left. Checking my nested circle dies, I discovered that the largest one was an ideal fit. Ensuring that I had everything aligned the way I needed it, I stamped the sentiment onto a light pink cardstock to match my theme. I gave it just a little bit of time for the ink to dry and then trimmed the background panel to its final dimensions before centering it on a pre-cut A2 white card base and adhering it into place.
The next step was to create the foreground panel. To do this I decided to go with the Never-Ending Love background stamp from MFT. Its beautiful hearts caught my eye, and I wanted to highlight them to make them really pop. To achieve this effect, I used clear embossing ink to stamp the background onto my red cardstock, then applied Moxy's Glitter Embossing Powder in Crimson and heat set it. Once it cooled down, I carefully trimmed it to its final dimensions, ensuring it was centered perfectly, and used the circle die to create the aperture. Afterward, I securely adhered it to the card background.
To enhance the visual appeal of the project, I added some flat-back Heart Droplets in both 6mm and 4mm sizes from Kat Scrappiness.
