My Favorite Things Weekly Sketch Challenge

Inspiration Sketch 643

Good day, fellow crafters. I am delighted to share with you my submission for the MFT Weekly Sketch Challenge #643. I wanted to create a cheeky little card that wasn’t a Birthday or Sympathy or even a Celebratory card so I used this opportunity to create this one. I think it turned out really cute especially with the color choices. I hope you enjoy.

In order to create this card, I first searched through my die collection to find a suitable option for the curves shown in the sketch. Although one could use a compass and cut them by hand, I ultimately chose to use the rounded, stitched, and scalloped edge die set from My Favorite Things (MFT-0986). I particularly love how these playful edges make the matting look. To keep within my design theme, I selected corresponding colors from the ice cream paper I used for the center mat. After cutting them out with the die set, I adhered them together and then onto a background that was the same shade of blue as the ice cream printed paper, to tie everything together.

For the focal point of the card, I used the My Favorite Things Ice Cream Cone (MFT-1783) die cut set, which appears to be retired but can still be found online. I cut the pieces from white cardstock and then used Gina K's Crisp inks in Minty Mint, Milk Chocolate, and Paper Bag to ink blend and achieve the colors I wanted. Once the ink dried, I adhered it to the card background. Finally, I placed all the pieces on a pre-cut A2 White card base.

To complete the card, I stamped my sentiment directly onto the card using a sentiment from the My Favorite Things Drink Up Sunshine (BB-074) stamp set, in Gina K Amalgam ink.

I hope my instructions and descriptions have been helpful in understanding how this card was created. By using the specified products and following the steps outlined, you should be able to create a similar card with ease. Remember to have fun and experiment with different colors and designs to make it your own. Best of luck with your crafting endeavors!
