My Favorite Things Color Challenge #210
It’s a Blue Gray Kind of Day
Good day, Fellow crafters. I am thrilled to share with you my entry for the My Favorite Things (MFT) Color Challenge #210. This challenge, like its predecessors, features a defined color palette to inspire your submission, but you are not required to use exact color matches. In my case, I have chosen to work with inks from my collection that closely resemble the colors provided.
Participating in challenges like this one is an excellent way to expand your crafting skills and explore new techniques. With the freedom to experiment with different color combinations and materials, the possibilities for creativity are endless. It is always inspiring to see how other participants interpret the challenge guidelines and produce unique and innovative projects. I hope that you enjoy it.
To craft this cards I first began with a pre-cut A2 White card base, providing the perfect canvas to showcase my creative vision. I wanted to create a dreamy, cloud-filled sky for the background, so I reached for the MFT Clouds stencil (ST-099) and Gina K's Powder Blue ink. I carefully applied the ink through the stencil, blending and layering until I achieved the perfect fluffy cloud effect. But I wasn't done yet! To add even more depth and dimension to the sky, I added a touch of Ranger's Distress Oxide in Tumbled Glass. The combination of these two stunning hues created a mesmerizing, swirling sky that would draw in anyone's gaze. I then set it aside to dry.
Moving on to the next step I excitedly reached for my MFT A-roar-able Friends stamp and die set (CS-483 & MFT-1767) to bring some adorable prehistoric creatures to life in the foreground. I stamped and then using the corresponding dies, cut out these charming little dinosaurs, each one boasting its own unique personality and charm.
To provide them with some life, I employed the use of my trusty Copics. Starting with a light base color, to which, I expertly blended and shaded each dinosaur with a slightly darker shade of G to create detailed effect.
As I continued to work, I had a sudden realization that the dinosaur needed a proper something to walk upon. Inspired by the rolling hills of prehistoric times, I grabbed my MFT Stitched Snow Drift (MFT-0546) die set and set to work. I had envisioned a lush, vibrant green hill for the dinosaur to climb, but green was not among the colors provided by the challenge palette. So instead I created a muddy river bank for the dinosaur to amble along.
Once I had all the pieces ready, it was time to assemble them onto the card base. For an extra touch of dimension and drama, I used pop dots to elevate the Pterodactyl, giving it a sense of height. Finally, to tie everything together I stamped a message onto the card in Gina K Powder Blue ink.
In the end, I couldn't be happier with how this project turned out. Each component comes together to create a scene that is sure to delight anyone who has a love for the prehistoric world. With every crafting project, I continue to discover new techniques and unlock the full potential of my creativity.
