Stay Crafty with A Blog Named Hero

They Say it's your Birthday”

Good day, fellow crafters. Allow me to present my entry for the April Hero Arts inspirational challenge, centered around the theme of birthdays. For this entry I've utilized a combination of stamps and dies to create this piece, drawing inspiration from a young family member who has a birthday this month. Knowing that dragons are a popular interest among the recipients, I'm excited to see their reaction to this creation. I hope you enjoy it too!

To craft this card, I started with Vanilla cardstock and used Gina K's Kraft ink and Wendy Vecchi's Acorn ink to blend a yellowed parchment hue, as I planned to incorporate Hero Arts' Nested Frames Scroll die-cut in my design. This die-cut appealed to me due to its worn appearance, complete with little nicks. To further enhance this effect, I brushed the edges with ink. Next, I mounted the background on a pre-cut A2 card base in a Kraft shade.

To create the dragon, its fiery breath, and the cake, I used black ink to stamp them and then colored them with my reliable Copics. I found that the G17, G05, and G09 shades of green added a venomous touch to the dragon's appearance, so I used those. Once I colored the pieces, I fussy cut around them and mounted them onto the background.

Finally, I used the same stamp set to create the sentiment, using Acorn ink to stamp it onto the background.
