Pinkfresh Studio July 2023 Challenge
Go Geometric!
Good day, fellow crafters. Shapes Shapes Shapes! Today’s challenge from Pinkfresh Studio is all about using geometric shapes in our card designs. From sleek triangles to elegant circles, and from bold squares to intricate polygons, the sky's the limit for what we can achieve through this captivating theme. Whether you're a seasoned crafter or just starting on your creative path, this challenge promises something exciting for everyone. So, gather your tools, unleash your inner artist, and let the shapes guide your hands. I hope you enjoy my entry and it inspires you to play along.
To create this card, I went hunting through my stash and found a few items from Pinkfresh Studios I haven’t used before. The first was the Pop-Out Nested Diamond (PFCR1120) background stamp and the second was the Reason to Smile Wreath stamp set which I used for the sentiment. I next hunted through my inks and found the closest colors I possessed to the challenge pallet that was provided, I have included it above my entry for reference. I settled on Altenew Crisp Inks in the colors Caribbean Sky and Chamomile, Gina K designs ink in the colors Peach Bellini and Red Hot, and finally Wendy Vecchi Blendable Ink in the color Bluebird.
I started the construction of this card by positioning a piece of white cardstock in my Misti stamping tool and aligned the entirety of the Nested Diamond stamp over the center of the cardstock. I then peeled off everything but the center stamp then inked it with my desired color and stamped it on the cardstock. I next aligned the next layer of the nested stamp and then peeled off the first stamp. I inked and stamped this stamp as well then repeated the process for all of the others.
While the ink was drying I searched for my diamond nested dies and was unable to locate them, so when it was ready, I trimmed the background to its final dimension by hand. For the next step, I did find my square stitched die so I used it to cut the light blue mat. I then adhered the background to the mat and then the assembled pair to a pre-cut A2 white card base.
The next step was to create the sentiment. I found the one from the Reason to Smile Wreath stamp set that said “Great things never came from comfort zones” very appealing, so I stamped it onto a corresponding yellow cardstock. Then it came to me, the cardstock looked like a roadway warning sign color yellow, and the sentiment mentioned zones so I cut the sentiment out in a diamond shape like a warning sign and then aligned and adhered it to the background. For a little bit of visual interest, I then added a few flat-backed onyx squares which I turned on an angle to match the card background.
