Focus on Florals
Themed Fridays #26 - Focal Point February - Florals
Good day, fellow crafters. Today I present to you my submission to the IG hop Themed Fridays, number # 26! This month is Focal Point February and this week the specific focus is on Florals! We are planning to bring a breath of fresh floral air to the February Blahs! If you are inspired to participate please be sure to add the #themed_fridays_card_making_fun to your post. We would love to see what you come up with. If you’d like to join our fun little group please DM @touchofmagik on Instagram. I hope you enjoy.
To create this card, I started by using watercolor paper, along with the My Favorite Things Freshly Picked Bouquet stamp set, black ink, and my Misti stamping tool. I positioned the paper in the Misit, aligned my stamp, and then inked and stamped my image. I typically do this a couple of times on my pieces to ensure a clean image transfer. I then removed the paper from the Misti and secured it to my glass mat work surface.
Using the smooshed ink method, I next added Simon Hurley inks to my worksurface and spritzed with just a bit of water to thin out the ink to a thin watercolor consistency. Using my water brush pen, I picked up the pigments and applied them to my image. The colors used were Triple Berry, Later Gator, Fake Plant, Slippery When Wet, Grrr!, Sike!, and a light blue for the background. Once the color had been applied I allowed them to dry fully.
The next step was to use my Gemini die-cutting machine and a rectangular single-stitched die from my stash to trim the background panel to its final dimensions. I also used the nested Hero Arts rectangular dies from my stash to cut a slightly larger black mat. Using Bearly Arts liquid glue, I then adhered the background panel to the mat and then the composite to a white A2 card base.
The last steps for the project were to add the sentiment and embellishments. The sentiment was stamped in black and came from the My Favorite Things Grow Together stamp set. The embellishments were created by using Nuvo Crystal Drops. With that, I called the card complete.
