Adding Texture with Embossing Folders
An Altenew Inspired Creation
Good day, fellow crafters. Today I am presenting a card that I created after an engaging class I took that was taught by Teri Wilson. The class was on adding dimension and texture with embossing folders. Each element, except the sentiment, had the texture added by an embossing folder. This gives a very unique look to the design as a whole. I hope you enjoy.
To create this card I began with white HammerMill cardstock, a layering stencil from Pink Fresh Studio (PFS) called Be Strong, ink-blending brushes, and Distress Oxides in the colors Bundled Sage, Seedless Preserve, Dried Marigold, and Victorian Velvet. I first secured the cardstock to my worksurface and then carefully aligned and secured each stencil in turn after ink-blending until satisfied with the hue. I then set them aside to dry.
After allowing drying time, I next misted the back of my ink-blended cardstock with water and placed it into the Altenew Organic Linen 3D embossing folder, featured left and ran that through my Gemini die cutting machine a couple of times to ensure a good transfer. I then removed the cardstock from the embossing folder and allowed it to dry. Finally I utilized the coordinating die from PFS for the Be Strong set (PF112921) and my Gemini die cutting machine
to cut the floral images out. I set this aside to await assembly.
The background panel was created by following the same steps as just completed for the previous embossing folder but using the Altenew Gems Geometric 3D embossing folder, featured above right, with sage-colored cardstock. Using a Hero Arts rectangular nesting die set, I then cut the background panel down to its final dimensions and adhered it to a card base using Bearly Arts liquid glue. Once that was in place I adhered the florals with more liquid glue.
The next step was to create the sentiment. I turned to the Altenew Fancy Thanks word die for this. Using my Gemini and black cardstock I cut out the sentiment. This was then adhered it over the floral elements with more liquid glue. With that, I called the card complete.
