Create 3 Ways Instagram Hop - January 2024
Good day, fellow crafters. Today I present to you my submission to the IG hop Create It 3 Ways! Every 3rd Saturday at 3 PM ET we are sharing triple the inspiration with a chosen theme! This month the theme is Love.
If you are inspired and want to join us please message @amritapettus on IG for more info. If you are just inspired in general then be sure to tag your card with the hashtag #createit3waysighop so we can see your work. Regardless be sure to check out the large number of designers that will be featured under that tag. I hope you enjoy.
I chose to create the focal element of the card first, the multi-dimensional heart, as I wanted this to be the same on every one of my cards. I chose three differing shades of pink and using my Gemini die-cutting machine and the Birch Press Kinsley Heart layered die set, featured left, cut out each of the layers. I next assembled the layers into the final product, adhering the layers together with Bearly Art liquid glue. I set them aside while pressed together under some acrylic blocks until the glue had time to dry.
The next step was to create the background panels. For each card, I used some Reflections Shimmering Peach cardstock and an embossing folder. I used three varying designs but all were made up of only hearts. The folders
I chose to use the Park Lane Hearts, Spellbinder’s Heart and Soul, and Spellbinder’s Spreading Love which are featured left. I first trimmed down the Peach cardstock to the size of the embossing folder and for two of the cards went ahead and stamped my sentiment in black ink. For each of the panels I then lightly misted the back of the cardstock to soften the fibers and then ran them through my Gemini twice to ensure I got a good image transfer with no tearouts. I then removed them from the embossing folder and allowed them to dry.
The next step was to create the last of my sentiments. For this one, I chose to heat emboss it onto some black cardstock with VersaMark watermark ink and WoW! White embossing powder. The stamp sets I used for the sentiments were all from My Favorite Things and included the sets Hello, Blooming with Love, and Inside & Outside Sending Sunshine. These you can see featured right.
The last stage was assembly. I trimmed all of the background panels down to size with a nested rounded corner rectangle die as well as a black mat with a slightly larger die. I then adhered these together with double-sided tape and then repeated the process with the composite and a white card base. I then adhered the heart into place with liquid glue and mounted my last sentiment on top of the heart for visual interest. With that, I called the card complete.
