Create 3 Ways Instagram Hop

Good day, fellow crafters! Today I am presenting to you my submission to the Create It 3 Ways IG Hop! This is a monthly hop held every 3rd Saturday at posted at 3 PM ET – please message @amritapettus for more info if you’d like to join us. This month’s hop theme is December holidays and I chose to feature Christmas. I hope you enjoy my submission.

To create the background for these cards, I first begin by getting my supplies in order. I chose to use a premium white cardstock, Fun Stampers Journey Sparkly Christmas stamp set (featured left), Spellbinders Essential Four Petal Label die, Wow! embossing powder in Fairytale, Recollections embossing powders in Gold and Silver, Distress Oxide inks in the colors of Tumbled Glass, Lumberjack Plaid, and Rustic Wilderness, and finally some flat back gems from Kat Scrappiness and Taylored Expressions.

Each of the cards were made in the same way, just with differing orientation and coloration so the following step by step applies to all three cards.

To create the background I used the chosen color of ink for that particular card and an ink-blending brush to covered the white cardstock. I saturated the paper until I got it to the hue I was looking to achieve and then set it aside and allowed for it to dry while I repeated the process for the next card. Once the card had dried I splattered it with a tiny bit of water and then allowed that to dry to give the card a little more visual appeal.

The next step was to add the sentiment. To do this I placed my background panel into my Misti stamping tool and aligned the FSJ Sparkly Christmas stamp set. I then used VersaMark embossing ink to ink the stamp and then I stamped the image. I did this twice each time it was added to a card to ensure a good transfer was made. I then applied the embossing powder and heat set it. For the green card I used the WoW! Fairytale embossing powder, for the red card Recollections Gold, and the blue card Recollections Silver.

The last step was assembly. Utilizing the Spellbinders Four Petal Label die, featured right, I cut each of the background panels and then a corresponding mat of gold or silver glitter cardstock from Recollections. I adhered each of the background panels to their corresponding mats with double-sided tape and then that composite to a white card base which I also cut using the label die that I used for the mat. With that, I called the card complete.

Note: Please be aware that I don't have any sponsorship arrangements with the suppliers mentioned in this post; I simply appreciate and frequently use their products. To support the creation of more content like this, I've included affiliate links for some of the featured supplies. Utilizing these links won't incur any additional costs for you, but it does provide a small benefit to me, allowing me to continue sharing my work with you.
