Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge

Alcohol Inks or Drinks

Good day, fellow crafters. Today I present to you my entry into the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge. The challenge prompt for this week is either Alcohol Inks or Drinks, but I think I might just have miss read it…or perhaps I was just projecting LOL. All in all I still enjoyed the creative process. I hope you enjoy it.

To begin this project I hunted through my stash to find something I had not used before. This approach allows me to make the most of my existing resources and prevents repetition in my designs. Eventually, my search led me to this cute wine stamp produced by Hot Fudge Studio and distributed by Hampton Arts (PS0908). Although I'm uncertain about its origin source, you can currently find it on Amazon.com as of the time I'm writing this blog post. I next had to decide on what I wanted for a background and after searching my scrapbooking paper packs I found this golden yellow paper that really complemented my design concept. I love the fact that it even looks old, which goes with the date on the wine bottle (1893) to tie it all together.

To create the foreground, I started with some premium white cardstock and then stamped the image onto it with some black ink. After the ink dried I used my PrismaColor colored pencils to color in the image and add the shading and highlights. I next stamped the sentiment in black ink using the Blossoming Bouquet stamp set from Tonic Studio.

The last step for this project was assembly. I first trimmed the golden yellow paper down to its final size and then to create the idea that the image was on a wine crate I used an A2 card base in Kraft colored cardstock and adhered them together. I then chose an oval infinity die set and cut out out the foreground and a complementary black mat, then adhered them to the card base. Lastly, to add some dimension for visual appeal I attached some glossy ebony colored flat back gemstones from Little Things. The number of gemstones and their placement is intentionally done to create a natural draw to the viewer’s eye all along the card.

I hope you have found some inspiration in this card to create something unique of your own. Be sure to leave a comment below, even if it is just to say hello, I really like it when people say hello. Remember Crafting is Happiness!
