Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge

Summer

Good day, fellow crafters. Join me as I step into summertime bliss with my entry for the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge. Let me transport you to a tranquil sunset paradise, where the warm hues of the sinking sun paint the sky in a mesmerizing symphony of oranges, and yellows. Silhouettes of graceful palm trees gently sway against the horizon, while seagulls gracefully glide amidst the fading light. This handcrafted summer-themed card captures the essence of lazy days and salty sea breezes, inviting you to relish the enchanting spirit of the season. So, kick back, relax, and let this card transport you to a coastal dreamscape where the magic of summer never ends. I hope you enjoy.

To create the background for this card I began with some cold press watercolor paper and an inexpensive set of watercolor bricks I had in my stash. I took the time to carefully blend in oranges and yellows so that I could get this beautiful sun shine appearance. I then set the card aside to completely dry.

Once it was ready I used the palm tree stamp from the Simon Hurley Treescapes stamp set and VersaFine Claire Nocturne ink. I really wanted this to be about the play of light and how it casts shadows so I did not apply a lot of pressure to the stamp and I think the result is really amazing. I finished up the background panel by utilizing the sea gull stamp to add some sea gulls to the scene and to stamp my sentiment.

In the last step, I assembled the card by using my rectangle slimline die to achieve the perfect dimensions for both the background and the coordinating black mat. Once I had them cut to size, I carefully adhered the two layers together. With the composite ready, I affixed it to a pre-cut and folded white slimline card base, creating a seamless and polished final presentation.
