National Suicide Prevention Week
Checking in on a strong friend
Good day, fellow crafters. National Suicide Prevention Week is an important occasion that brings attention to a topic that affects countless lives around the globe. At Forget-Me-Not Card Company, we believe that fostering connections and spreading positivity is at the heart of what we do, and addressing such critical issues aligns with our mission. All this week we are joining with other crafters and cardmakers to create works that will serve to remind the recipient that they are not forgotten or alone. Please feel free to hop along with us on IG using my post as a starter or by finding our works using any of the following hashtags: #stopsuicide #realconvo #realtalk #suicideprevention #itsokaynottobeokay #mentalhealthmatters #selfcare #youarenotalone

To create this card I first began with the background. It was created on Yupo paper by adding a combination of blending solution and drops of various colors of alcohol inks to the paper and then using an alcohol ink blower to move the ink around the paper until satisfied with the result and then allowed to dry. This technique is always super satisfying to me when the final results are revealed. The only thing that I wish you could see in my card that you can’t see in the still photo is that there is silver alcohol ink used in this design. It gives the card quite a shimmer.
Next, I utilized a slim line die from Crafty Meraki called Lenten Rose and some black cardstock to cut out my foreground. My design intent was that you would get the impression that you were looking at a stained glass window. I chose black to give it appeal but not take away from the background which I feel worked brilliantly.
Once the paper was cut I trimmed the background panel to size and adhered the foreground to the background with liquid glue. Then to carry the color scheme through the rest of the card, I trimmed a purple shaded mat to size and then removed the center of the mat so as to not waste materials. The background panel was then adhered to the mat with double-sided tape and then the composite was adhered to a slim line card base in a shade of blue that works really well with the design.
Lastly, to finish off the card I needed to create the sentiment. To do this I utilized the cutout portion of the mat and a sentiment stamp from the Baby Butterflies Beauty stamp set from PicketFence Studio. I stamped the sentiment in black pigment ink and then cut it out using a round stitched die. I finished the card by adhering the sentiment to the card background.
