My Time To Craft Inspirational Design
Blue
Good day, fellow crafters. I am thrilled to introduce my inspirational submission for the My Time To Craft Challenge Blog, challenge #513. For every challenge we, as the design team, attempt to bring you themes and ideas that will test your abilities and, ideally, ignite your enthusiasm to explore fresh ways of thinking. However, what I like most about being part of the team is seeing how we each showcase our take on the theme and sometimes just what the card means to the creator.
I hope you are inspired to enter this challenge and I can’t wait to see your creative take on this week’s theme. Be sure to tag me on your entry and/or comment below so I know to watch out for you. Remember Crafting is Happiness!
To create this blue monochromatic card, my starting point was the selection of a background stamp. With the card centered around various shades and tones of blue, my aim was to create an intricate design that would still hold visual charm despite using only one color. When I came across the Leaves and Flowers stamp, depicted on the left, I instantly knew it was the perfect choice for this project. Its resemblance to tile work patterns I encountered during a trip to Rabat, Morocco, brought back fond memories which further convinced me it was the right one for the card.
I next applied inks to the stamp in different hues of blue, starting with a darker one in the middle and gradually going lighter toward the edges. From dark to light these colors were Blue Denim and then Powder Blue from Gina K, and finally SSS Clear Skies. I stamped the image onto my cardstock, pressing firmly to get a good result, then carefully lifted the stamp off. I set the panel aside to allow it to dry.
While that was occurring, I used the SSS Elegantly Modern Greetings Hot Foil plates, and some metallic glitter blue foil to create my sentiment. I then cut it out with the corresponding dies and set it aside.
The last stage was assembly. I trimmed the now dry background panel to its final dimensions as well as the dark blue mat and adhered them both to a pre-cut A2 white card base. I then added pop-dots to the back of my sentiment for added dimension and then adhered it to the background panel completing the card.
