Just Because

Good day, fellow crafters. Today I was working away in my craft room and I got to thinking about the people I know that I haven’t really had a lot of contact with lately and decided that, you know what, I am going to make something for them “just because”, hence today’s card. Sometimes it is good just to know that other people are thinking of you. I hope you enjoy.

The background panel for this card was created during the process of making a different card because I have a strong aversion to wasting materials, so I wanted to share this technique with you. The original card featured a design made with alcohol inks on Yupo Paper. After the ink had dried, I used the Momenta Leaves and Flowers stamp (2236156), featured left, and an alcohol lift pad to remove the ink within the stamp's design. Instead of discarding the lifted ink, I immediately stamped it onto some Hammermill white cardstock, resulting in the background you see on my card above. I've employed this method multiple times, and as long as you're working with stamps, it proves to be a valuable technique with consistently satisfying results. Just remember that the alcohol ink lift pad only works if the surface the ink is on is nonporous.

Following the trimming of the background panel to its final dimensions, I employed the Pretty Posh Scallop Frame along with a matching purple cardstock to create a frame. These components were securely adhered together using double-sided tape. To enhance the visual impact, I matted the composite with black cardstock and affixed the entire piece onto a pre-cut and folded A2 white card base. As I mentioned I abhor waste, to minimize it, I utilized the centers of the purple and black cardstock and Honey Bee’s Just Because die set to craft my sentiment and its shadow. After gluing these layers together, I mounted them on my card. To add a subtle yet appealing touch, I embellished the card with Little Things flat-backed pearls in Soft Violet, providing it with dimension and visual interest. With that, I called this card complete.
